Le blog de Sécham » C'est beau, c'est simple, Sécham.

Yesterday I could not fall asleep. Lisa spent the night with Ketsia at the hospital and I was thinking about the whole situation. It is quite a hard time. Full recovery is still a long way to go. Ketsia needs to grow better and win weight… It is quite difficult to see your own child crying because she is hungry but your are note allowed to give her food and nothing else can comfort her. But in these very moment of despair we know that we are not alone… Ketsia has already experienced a lot in such a short time and we are so thankful for the time spent with her.
It’s quite a challenge for our faith but as the song says « hard times make you strong » and trust me, we learned a lot about ourself, learned really to trust in people and most of all to trust in our Lord.
Thanks also to you, for reading this blog, for thinking about us, and for praying for us.

As I said, I could not sleep so I did not just stay in bed counting the sheeps…. No I made a small stop motion film just for you. The main character of that film is a « knuffel » of the Ronald McDonalds fondation… This fondation is a great help for parents with children staying at the hospital. I think I will now see the small spare box at the cash register with another view when I buy a hamburger…

Just enjoy

  • chantal, yannick & Clara - trop fort Sam, on en veut encore, on aime bien le lapin Knuffel qui on l’espère fera du bien à KetsiaReplyCancel

Ketsia is doing really well, and all the doctors are really pleased with her condition and she may very soon leave the department of intensive care. This is for Lisa and me really great news and we are God so thankful that everything went well and surprisingly quick till now. Of curse we are also you thankful for your support and you prayers which help and hold the three of us during this tough time. I hope to be able to let see you photos of Ketsia at home in a couple weeks but first here are the some images of her after surgery.
I put also a video, to explain you a little bit Ketsia’s condition. In the first part of the video Ketsia is breathing thanks a machine (the big machine on the right-hand-side, and the the pipes into her nose). She’s also receiving a lot of medicines (see all the active green light on the left-hand-side).
The second part of the video starts with a view of her monitoring screen and trust me that is the first time I saw that kind of values : Good and calm heart beat, quasi perfect saturation, and low and calm frequency of respiration… And as you can see, the machine is on standby and almost all the pipes have been removed. The amount of medicine have been also reduced. Praise the Lord!

  • Iryna Gorun Gutfreund - I’m a friend of Mary and Tim, we are going to the same church in Grenoble.
I’m following your story from the beginning when Ketsia was inside the mamas stomach. My husband Philipp and I are praying for you 3 and hope one day we could meet each other in person. I guess we have plenty common things.
Your Ketsia is So cute, a real Petite Merveille!
    God bless you!

« Work is done, rest in Him » this were the first words I read this morning after a very long day and a quite tensed night.
Yesterday morning entered Ketsia into the operation room for her heart surgery intervention. We knew it could be a long intervention and it was ! After 8 hours of waiting we received the first information : surgeons were struggling with coagulation issues. Two hours later I shortly saw Ketsia through the door of our waiting room. She was out and it was such a relief . 10 hours fighting. After a small talk with one surgeon we could go to Ketsia. It was a strange feeling of joy and fear especially when she begun to be unstable. She was still losing a lot of blood. We went again to our waiting room and prayed. After a while we could go again to Ketsia, she was a bit more stable but we were asked to spend the night at the hospital as her condition still critical was.
It was a long night but one verse came into my mind « In peace I will lie down and sleep, for you alone, Lord, make me dwell in safety. » Psalm 4:8 Yes the Lord gives us safety. The night went well and Ketsia’s condition is improving slowly. Full recovery is still a very long way to go but we are thankful for all the work done yet and every step Ketsia makes forward (independence of the machine and medication…)
Therefore are we waiting, resting and persevering in prayers. Thanks again for your support and your prayers and see you soon.

  • LiSa Rakoto - One year anniversary of Ketsia’s heart surgery

Today is the one year anniversary of our lovely daughter Ketsia’s heart surgery!
27.09.12 was a day that bursts parents…hope, fear, scare, doubt, patience (a must-have!), prayers in every thought. Surgery took longer than planed and she was bad when we were allowed to see her at the end of the day (after 10 hours). But we have a great God who reigns above life and death. He was so good to us, He is merciful, faithful and caring. We felt like we were safe in a strong hand that never would abandon us – no matter what happens. We felt, no, we were sure of the firm wall that was build of prayers around us. This firm wall sheltered us against desperation. To this God are glory and honor and thanks!
As she was assisted and surrounded by lots of machines she looked more death than alive. All the more we were lucky that four days later she opened her eyes for the first time – her 2nd birthday! We were just satisfied to may see little movements and to hear her gentle voice. Only 2 1/2 weeks later we were at home, all went without complications – great miracle for this kind of extent surgery!

Thank you God for having given her and for having let her to us!

    Psalm 91,4
He will cover you with his feathers,
    and under his wings you will find refuge;
his faithfulness will be your shield and rampart. — mit Sam Rakoto in Leiden.ReplyCancel
