End April I had the chance to travel to England in order to meet Astrid and Paul for their engagement photo-shooting. More than a photo-shooting it was a nice time with friends. I know Astrid from the Technical University of Munich and although we had no courses in common we got somehow along through our love of cooking and our love of France. I was really happy when Astrid told me she met an handsome Canadian man and even more happy when she told my that this handsome Canadian man had become her fiancé.
Months passed and I became their « wedding photographer » and on a sunny week-end of April I eventually met Paul in Olney, a little town nearby the place where Paul is studying. We started the session in a beautiful garden…

Then went back home to put some « Trachten » on and to have a lot of fun.

The next day we enjoyed the sun by exploring a little bit the neighbor villages.

Thanks you guys for this beautiful week-end and see you soon in the summer for your big day.

And here comes the end of our Iceland Trip.

Gulfoss – Reykjavik
We were quite tired so we decided to take it easy and started the day with a stop in Gulfoss.

Then we made several stops on our way to the capital Reykjavik in order to enjoy the beautiful weather.

Arrived in Reykjavik we walked through the city center and made some shopping. It was a little bit strange to see so many peoples – 2/3 of the population live in Reykjavik-, so many cars after one week in the « wildness ».

After a short night we were already in our flight direction Amsterdam still thinking about all the beautiful thing we could see during this week.

I hope that you liked the pictures and if you want to go to Iceland do not hesitate to contact me. I probably will go there again because there are still plenty of beautiful things that I did not see and I truly wants to see the northern lights once again.

Let us continue our journey through wonderful Iceland.

Vík – Seljavallalaug – Þingvellir – Geysir

This long day of driving began with a little stop at the shore. Do you remember the photos of Vík of Day 2? We decided to see Vík from the other side of the cliff and it was 100% worth it. The waves were very strong and the light was just perfect.

We continued our journey by making a relaxing stop at the Seljavallalaug bath. It’s a old hot pot swimming pool lost in a hidden valley. It’s a really strange feeling to have a bath in the middle of the mountains. The changing rooms were quite crappy but the temperature of the water was perfect.

After this relaxing stop, we drove to the place which makes Iceland so unique « Þingvellir ». The reason why Iceland gots volcano’s and geysers is that the land relies on the North American and the Eurasian plates. The continental drift between the North American and Eurasian Plates can be clearly seen in the cracks at this very special place. Þingvellir has also an historical dimension as the parliament was established there from 930 till 1798.

In the late afternoon we finally arrived at our final destination: Geysir. This place will always remain special in our minds.
First of all, it was really impressive to see a geyser with our own eyes.

And after a good meal and a relaxing bath in the hot pool, we had the chance to eventually see the northern lights.
