Le blog de Sécham » C'est beau, c'est simple, Sécham.

Summer is back and the shooting season is about to start again after the « Noémie » pause… Last long weekend and especially last Whit Monday, which was btw the birthday of my lovely wife, was a great occasion to « go back to basics ».
I am indeed using my 35mm 1.4L and my 85mm 1.2L a lot. I just love them !!! But when you´re doing a portrait session or are shooting a wedding it always good to remember what are all your possibilities. So I decided to back to my old and faithful 50mm 1.4. Back to the basics as I started to take photography seriously with that lens (still on my 350d three years ago). I can remember the day I entered the camera store having received a few days ago my first paycheck of my new job in the Hague. I wanted to celebrate it by buying my first prime lens ever. 10 minutes later I was the proud owner of a canon 50 mm 1.4. It was the beginning of a long journey…

Even if I am more into my 35mm or my 85mm now, I must admit that my 50mm 1.4, which is not a L lens, is still a pretty good one. It’s quite light in comparison to its « L cousins » and delivers great pics. We had fun with it and I hope you like the results.

Have a nice week-end and see you soon for some pretty cool things happening in the coming weeks.

Our sweet Noémie is already two weeks old. For Lisa and me it was a new feeling. Of course every child is unique and for sure it had to be a different adventure from Ketsia´s but there were so many different parameters. We were home with a new born, we could experiment the really nice system of the Dutch « Kraamzorg » (when a someone is coming one week to help you with the baby and the household) and Noémie had already been held by family and friends (Ketsia could be only be held by Lisa and me or medical personal the first 5 weeks of her life).

This makes you think about the « hard time » you once had and make you thankful for the « easier ones » you now have. Of course everything in not so easy: as any parents our nights are short, finding the right amount of attention between our two princesses is a fine art, and what concerns Lisa breast feeding which is a beautiful thing for mother and child is not always without struggle. Yes life is not black and white, but do not worry where are two very happy and thankful parents.

We know that HE watches over us as HE did with Ketsia and that is the most important thing for us. Enough talk for today and let me share with you some of the wonderful moments we had the last two weeks:

With family— yes Gabrielle that you already know from former blog posts is kind of family too. She was the first one of our friends to hold Noémie.

As a family of three princesses and a happy man behind the lens
as a happy dad experimenting the wonderful world of newborn photography

Once again I had the chance to hold a princess on an 8th.

On last Thursday Noémie Joy Rakotonanahary, the 3rd princess of my life, discovered for the first time our crazy world: 52cm for 2804g of happiness.
It was a big surprise for Lisa and I. I don’t know why but we were more expecting a boy (just a little felling as wanted to keep the surprise for the big day), even a big boy (as the mid-wife told us that the baby should weight ca. 3500g-3750g…). But at 7.55 am came to world a big but thin princess. What a surprise, what a wonderful surprise! This time there was no rush. there was no reason for our small daughter to be taken to another place for further analyses. Noémie could rest on her mother’s chest, feeling this loving warmth and being nursed by her mother heart beat.
What a delightful moment for us.

We are so thankful for our second little wonder and also very thankful that Ketsia loves her and has been the last 3 days really nice and attentive. These two girls are such a blessing.
Thank you also for all the messages, prayers and kind words.

Enjoy the few pictures, have a blessed Sunday and I wish all the mothers a happy mother’s day (I know in France there are still two weeks to wait…).
