And here comes Day 3…. Till now we have seen blue water, wonderful waterfalls but we were just as the beginning of our journey. We hopped that we could see northern lights at the Hotel Laki but it snowed the whole night. We had then to stay zen and take some forces for our day trip.

We drove though beautiful landscapes but decided not to stop to arrive as soon as possible at the « Jökulsárlón lake » which is known as the « iceberg’s lake ». It was really impressive and we had a lot of fun there.

As we still had a lot of time, we decided to make several stops and make some small hikes full of laughters. If you’re visiting Iceland, I really encourage you to step a little bit into the wildness and enjoy your « freedom » ;o)

Selfoss – Seljalandsfoss – Skogar – Vik – Efri-Vik
After one night at the Hotel Selfoss and a relaxing time at the Sundhöll Selfoss pool (included in the hotel fare) before breakfast, we continued our trip on the south coast. We experimented all types of weather: sun, rain, snow… There is an Icelandic proverb who says « if you don’t like the weather, just wait around five minutes » so we were warned.
The good thing with a rental car tour trip is that you can stop almost everywhere to take pictures. We stopped to see:

– Horses

– Seljalandsfoss and Skogar water falls
Water falls

– The black sand beach of Vik, perfect place to take some jump photos…ahahaha

– Just beautiful landscapes, which name you just forgot..ahahaha

We spent the night at the Hotel Laki in Evri-Vik, where you can also do a quad trip, if you got more time than we had. In this lovely Hotel there was also a white piano, on which I played just for fun during dinner.

I’ve just started to edit my photos of our Iceland trip! Enjoy !!

It always my dream to see the northern lights that’s why I was thinking of making a trip in a country where I could see them. As the northern lights depend on the sun activity it not always sure that your trip will fall in a period of good sun activity (by the way 2013 and 2014 should be really good years to see them), that is why I chose Iceland. I knew that if I would not see the northern lights, there would be plenty of other things to see there. Trust me, these 5 days in Iceland were far better than I could imagine. Let’s start with day one!

Keflavik – Blue Lagoon – Seltun – Selfoss

Let me introduce you our dream team : Annette, my lovely sister-in-law, Natalie, a good friend of Munich and Guillaume, my best friend from my engineering school. We were 4 people, two french guys and two german women, the perfect mix for a lot of fun.
We started our journey with our flight Amsterdam Schiphol-Keflavik. After three hours of flight we arrived in a new world. Trust me, the first thing you think is that you’ve landed on mars or on the moon.

We drove then to the blue lagoon area. It was quite strange to see that blue water but it was just the beginning of all the new things we would see.

After this small stop at the blue lagoon we drove to Seltun. It’s quite a strange feeling the sea steam coming from the ground and to be surrounded by a lot of hot spots with bubbles and at any time risks of explosion.

The funny things when you are travelling as a group are the funny pictures. I don’t know why, but almost everywhere we went, we tried to make some jump photos and the most of the time it looked just like that…hahahaha

Fortunately our skills improved in the followings days. We spent the night in Selfoss.

Here some information about our trip:
– circuit booked with on Icelandguest
– flight AMS-KEF with Icelandair (think to eat something before the flight and take ear plugs if you want to see films during the flight)
